
After a successful season on and off the Dorsey football field, Owens was accepted to San Jose State University (SJSU) and was offered a football scholarship. Eager to fulfill personal and family expectations of academic excellence, he accepted the scholarship. While at SJSU, Christopher rose to the top of the statistical charts as a Defensive Back (CB) known for "picking the ball off". As a three year starter, Owens registered 13 interceptions as a Spartan, the fourth-highest total in the school's history, in addition, Owens tallied 68 tackles (40 solos) during his Senior campaign. The Spartan team captain received well deserved All-WAC first-team honors in 2008. Owens was invited to play with other top players in the country, at the Texas vs. The Nation College All Star Game. Owens finished his college career and, with degree in hand, headed to the NFL Combine for more success.
Christopher was drafted in the 3rd round, of the 2009 NFL Draft to the Atlanta Falcons at the Corner-back position. Owens’ first year brought even more success to the young Corner Back from Los Angeles, as he started the final 6 games of the regular season with the Falcons; recording 29 Tackles and 2 Interceptions. As a second year player, he recorded 40 tackles and 1 Interception for 13 yards. Christopher, now in his 3rd season with the Falcons, looks forward to more success on and off the field, as he endeavors to be of service to Los Angeles community, with his family's foundation. Founder of the Owens Family Youth Foundation, Christopher’s genuine concern for and dedication to, youth and community was recognized by the National Football League, as he was awarded, “Man of The Year” honors by the Atlanta Falcons Football Team in October of 2010. Christopher credits his strong relationship with God and the closeness of his family for his success.
